Top Quark Mass Predictions from Gauge - Yukawa Unification

چکیده
Gauge-Yukawa Unification (GYU) is a renormalization group invariant functional relation among gauge and Yukawa couplings which holds beyond the unification point in Grand Unified Theories (GUTs). Here, GYU is obtained by requiring finiteness and reduction of couplings to all orders in perturbation theory. We examine the consequences of GYU in various supersymmetric GUTs and in particular the predictions for the top quark mass. These predictions are such that they distinguish already GYU from ordinary GUTs. Moreover, when more accurate measurements of the top quark mass are available, it is expected that it will be possible to discriminate among the various GYUs. † Presented by G. Unification of Couplings and the Top Quark Sector in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model
I analyze the predictions for the strong gauge coupling, α3(MZ), and the top quark and light Higgs masses in the framework of gauge and bottom-tau Yukawa coupling unification in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. These predictions depend on the effective supersymmetric threshold scale TSUSY , which is only very slightly dependent on the squark and slepton masses, and strongly dependent ...
متن کاملGauge - Yukawa Unified Models
Gauge-Yukawa Unification (GYU) is obtained in GUTs by searching for renormalization group invariant relations among gauge and Yukawa couplings beyond the unification scale. Of particular interest are two supersymmetric GUTs, the finite and the minimal SU (5) models. Both models provided us,among others, with predictions of the top quark mass which so far have passed successfully the tests of pro...
متن کاملElectroweak Symmetry Breaking and Bottom-Top Yukawa Unification
The condition of unification of gauge couplings in the minimal supersymmetric standard model provides successful predictions for the weak mixing angle as a function of the strong gauge coupling and the supersymmetric threshold scale. In addition, in some scenarios, e.g. in the minimal SO(10) model, the tau lepton and the bottom and top quark Yukawa couplings unify at the grand unification scale...
متن کاملHiggs Boson Mass From Orbifold GUTs
We consider a class of seven-dimensional N = 1 supersymmetric orbifold GUTs in which the Standard Model (SM) gauge couplings and one of the Yukawa couplings (top quark, bottom quark or tau lepton) are unified, without low energy supersymmetry, at MGUT ≃ 4× 10 GeV. With gauge-top quark Yukawa coupling unification the SM Higgs boson mass is estimated to be 135± 6 GeV, which increases to 144± 4 Ge...
متن کاملOn the Unification of Couplings in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model
The unification of gauge and Yukawa couplings within the minimal supersymmetric standard model is studied at the two loop level. We derive an expression for the effective scale, TSUSY , which characterizes the supersymmetric particle threshold corrections to the gauge couplings, and demonstrate that TSUSY is only slightly dependent on the squark and slepton masses, and strongly dependent on the...
